CHARACTER DANCE
Character Dance is studied within our ballet grades. It is a subdivision of classical dance developed from Folk and National Dance. An important part of classical ballet heritage and integral to 19th century ballet repertoire, in studying this style of dance students gain a variety of skills that are easily transferable to other styles. Character Dance teaches musicality, performance quality and different floor patterns as students work alone, with a partner or as a group. Students learn about different cultures (such as Russian, Hungarian, Polish, Italian) and their history through this style of dance, improving their overall classical knowledge. Most of all, Character Dance is incredibly fun!
